Brief
CryoVR Biotest WebGL Module is part of a virtual training environment for cryo-EM sample-preparation workflows. The online module helps novice users practice equipment concepts before working with specialized lab hardware.
Problem
Cryo-EM training can be bottlenecked by limited equipment access, complex preparation procedures, and the high cost of mistakes during hands-on practice. Novice users need a lower-risk way to learn equipment structure and workflow sequencing.
Approach
The project provides an online virtual lab environment with web-accessible training modules. The CryoVR Lite page describes browser and standalone versions for users without VR equipment, adapting the training experience to keyboard and mouse interaction.
Highlights
- Supported pre-training for cryo-EM sample-preparation equipment and workflows.
- Presented CP3 plunge-freezing concepts, including humidity chamber setup, blotting, liquid nitrogen, ethane, grid handling, and vitrification.
- Adapted VR training content into a web-accessible version for users without VR hardware.
- Helped lower the barrier to learning specialized lab procedures before real-world practice.
Outcome
The module supports safer, more accessible cryo-EM preparation training by giving novices an interactive environment for learning equipment components and workflow steps.
